FOOD FOR THOUGHT
July 2008

It’s Margarita month at Habs

I should be a weather person this month.  It wouldn’t be too hard.  Hot and dry with a forecast for tomorrow of hot and dry. What they always forget to tell you is a frosty, frozen margarita can cool you off better than anything.  We’re taking that to the next level in July.  All month long we’ll be featuring different flavors.  Mango, strawberry, blueberry, agave, watermelon and flavors we haven’t even figured out yet.

Just to make that margarita taste even better we’re going to offer double points on all our margaritas this month.  So if you have a Habanero Dinero card (and everyone should) you’ll be earning your free burrito even faster.  Enjoy margarita month at Habs but remember… Don’t drink and drive (those little frostys are potent)

 MOVIE TRIVIA From

This is the month THE big movie of the Summer comes out.  Hancock looks like a fun movie.  There’s hero’s, superhero’s and then there’s Hancock.  Will Smith pulls it off like no other superhero.  This should be the biggest movie of the Summer.  If anything is close to Hancock in the Summer movies it will be The Dark Knight.  Batman squares off against his archenemy The Joker.  This is probably a little edgier than some of the previous versions but should be great fun.  If you have kids you’ll want to check out Space Chimps.  If you want comedy, both Eddie Murphy (Meet Dave) and Will Ferrell (Step Brothers) have movies out this month.  Last but not least Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D should be a good movie to watch at the IMAX screen at The Palladium.

This months trivia is related to Batman or more specifically my favorite villain The Joker.  Nobody can replace Cesar Romero but who has played The Joker on the big screen versions of Batman?  Hint (there’s at least 3)

E-mail your answers to burritoguy@habanerosgrill.com.  The first ten correct answers go in a drawing for a FREE dinner for two and two free movie tickets.

Congratulations to last months trivia winner: Matt Wade

Why are our burritos such a healthy choice?

We can think of lots of reasons why our burritos are such a good choice when you’re looking to eat healthy but here’s a few specifics.

  • Our beef is all natural – no hormones, no steroids and darn tasty to boot
  • Our brown rice and black beans in any burrito or rice bowl are a combination that any trainer would recommend. Brown rice is a fiber rich whole grain with double the amount of vitamins and minerals of white rice.
  • Avocados (guacamole) are rich in nutrients and provide monounsaturated fats which nutritionists consider the “good” fat.
  • Our whole wheat tortillas add fiber to your diet

Who knew our food could be so good to you.  Enjoy

Are you a Rock Star or Guitar Hero?

Join us at Habanero’s at The Rim for a little fun and maybe a contest or two.  Thursday July 3 Game Stop will be sponsoring a little fun on the patio.  All you need to play is a receipt from your burrito purchase or receipt of a game purchase.  Call us for more details. 699-4681

O Say, Did You Know?

The Star Spangled Banner, the national anthem of the United States, has a range of one and a half octaves, making it difficult for most people to sing. It has 4 stanzas, each containing 32 bars and 101 notes.

The first time the anthem was played at a baseball game was in 1918 (during a World Series). It was meant as a patriotic gesture during the first World War.

According to a Harris survey, nearly two-thirds of Americans 18 and older don’t know all the words to the anthem. The National Association of Music Education launched the National Anthem Project in 2005 to raise awareness of the song.

The original poem by Francis Scott Key had four verses, although we usually sing only the first.

The actual flag that flew over Fort McHenry in Baltimore and that inspired Key to pen the anthem is now owned by the Museum of American History in Washington, DC.

Time to eat those peppers

Peak pepper season is now until September.  Capsaicin, the chemical compound that gives pepper it’s heat is known to reduce inflammation, boost metabolism and even kill headaches.  The higher the capsaicin, the hotter it is but the better it is for you.  All the more reason to try Habanero Hot next time in

Do You Have The Lucky Number?

Bring in your Habanero Dinero card in July.  If your number ends in 20 then you will get ½ off your second entrée.
